Nian Gao Sticky Rice Cake is a symbol of growth, prosperity and good fortune.

A traditional Chinese New Year delicacy made from glutinous rice flour, symbolizing growth, prosperity, and good fortune. This chewy, aromatic sweet rice cake is made with steamed in banana leave and can be enjoyed pan-fried with savory ingredients, or sweetened with syrup. To prepare, simply resteam the cake until soft and tender, then fry with a little oil for a crispy golden finish.

You can also refrigerate it for several days, then slice and fry directly without resteaming, as many find it easier to cut when it's slightly firm from the fridge.
